The top is made of two beech planks measuring 3 ½” thick, and across its surface we see instances of honest repairs where square wooden pegs are inserted into areas of damage or loss. These repairs interrupt the flow of the wood grain to remind us of the table’s utilitarian value and offer insight into its past. The square legs are equally substantial, providing sturdy support for the weight of the tabletop. Blocks joined to the bottoms of the legs tell us that the table was raised somewhere along the line to suit the needs of the owner, which is reflective of the table’s modern-day versatility. This piece would be at home in a wide range of spaces and decorating styles. Gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, ready for use in your interiors. We believe this item to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
