An impressive antique American Empire step back cupboard, crafted from rich mahogany around 1840, features a distinctive two-part construction. The upper section presents a bookcase with two glazed doors, each adorned with intricate mullions, revealing multiple adjustable shelves. The glass doors are fitted with brass hardware, including key escutcheons.
Below the upper cabinet, a drawer with a fitted interior, including small compartments lined with red felt. The lower cabinet features two solid paneled doors, showcasing the flame mahogany veneer, and rests on four finely carved paw feet.
