Charming 19th-century American "fancy" side chair in the iconic style of Lambert Hitchcock. This period piece features its original ebonized black lacquered finish accented by vibrant, multi-colored fruit and harvest stenciling across the top splat. The turned stiles and legs are highlighted with original gold ring turnings.
The underside of the seat showcases authentic period characteristics, including a rough, hand-planed plank with through-tenon leg joinery and a naturally oxidized patina. Built entirely with traditional wood joinery, it features zero modern fasteners, screws, or hardware. Unmarked, as is common for early New England regional makers of this era. A stunning addition to any farmhouse, colonial, or eclectic interior.
