Vibrant and lovely vintage post impressionist original painting on board, signed and dated by the artist, 1944. The still life subject matter depicts a magenta striped draped fabric, a cobalt book with lettering, an jade colored agave plant in a terracotta pot, small cobalt blue bowl, opened book, and pink teapot on a bright goldenrod table.
The brushstrokes, texture and colors are beautiful. The shading with a deep cobalt blue and simplistic impressionistic shapes are reminiscent of modern paintings by Gauguin, Cezanne, and their contemporaries. The rich jewel tone colors are very harmonious.
