An antique Central Asian Tekke rug. From the most important Turkmen weaving tribe in Turkmenistan, this blood red nomadic rug displays five columns of eleven characteristic gul (flower) medallions within a color matched border of rayed octagons enclosing crosses. At each end is an extra 'elem border' panel with a small flower design. The weave is fine, the pile wool is soft and velvety and the carpet is authentically tribal.
