This artwork is a reproduction and was created by acclaimed Japanese artist Shiryu Morita (1912–1998) in 1964. Its powerful composition unfolds across four vertical panels, rendered in sweeping, calligraphic brushwork that evokes the spirit and movement of the dragon. Morita, a leading figure in modern Japanese calligraphy, was known for merging traditional ink techniques with abstract expression, and this work reflects that philosophy through bold forms and expressive restraint. The contrast between the black background + the golden-toned imagery creates a dramatic visual rhythm that reads as both symbolic and contemporary. The original metal connecting pins are missing, allowing the panels to be displayed leaning against a wall or arranged individually as sculptural art elements.
