The dimensions of this mansion befitting Avar kilim from the northeast Caucasus are extraordinary. The palette of dark and light blue and red with just the slightest touches of ivory are classic for this type which has only lately been available in the West. The giant volutes in the border of this c. 1890 kilim long carpet add a springy elasticity to the frame.
