Hand-painted in the famille rose palette, he rests on a patterned yellow cushion and wears colorful robes in soft pink, celadon green, and turquoise.

There is so much wonderful detail to take in. His pink robe is covered with peaches, fruit, flowers, and tiny scattered blossoms, while additional floral patterns decorate his sleeves and trousers. I especially love his sweet expression, little tufts of black hair, and rounded cheeks.

The gently curved back forms the traditional headrest, a form with a long history in Chinese ceramics. Hollow and unmarked on the underside, this is a nice size at 12 inches long and would be fantastic displayed on a console, bookshelf, or mixed into a collection of Chinese porcelain. See less
