Late 19th Century W. Persian Kurdish Jaf Carpet - 3'10" x 9'3".
Some #Kurdish Jaf tribe weavers get crazy and this is the result. The classic lozenges contract, swell, lean and stretch. Hooks get added, quartered motives get tossed in and the whole effect is totally engaging. The ivory border with erratic crosses is a Jaf original. This 19th century Kurdish tribal rug is a welcome addition to any collection focusing on nomadic #rug #art.
