19th century bronze statue of a Pan figure holding a flute from France.
The bronze is expertly cast and features a Pan figure of half of a young boy from the waist up and half of a goat from the waist down. Pan figures are mythical creatures that represent the ancient Greek God of the wild, pastures and shepherds, being half human and half animal forms.
They are also known for their love of music, which is why you will see them many times holding a flute, which Pan constructed out of reeds.
This figure is resting atop a tree stump, which is supported on a turned marble base, which has old breakage and fabulous old staple repairs, which are collectible on their own!
This is a wonderfully whimsical statue that will look superb in any room of a home or office.
