Be the envy of all your anthropology friends! I mean I would have a dinner party celebrating the arrival and ownership of this gorgeous huge Amate, Aztec (Nahua) based piece!
This is a traditional Mexican Folk Art piece from the Guerrero region with day glow colors painted onto Amate (bark) paper made by the Otomí. The bark is washed, boiled, and laid in lines on a wooden board. The fibers are then beaten with a stone until they fuse together. This painting depicts wild birds of mythology from the jungles of villages in the region it's specific to. It's in great condition considering that it's around 60 years old. It has never been framed so it's up to your imagination for your decor. See photos and condition notes.
I'm an interior decorator who's downsizing my own and inherited items. All have been well cared for and from a non-smoking home. Follow me for an eclectic trove of well priced quality pieces, but be patient as I am slowly going through both a home and storage unit. Items are well packed and fully insured for your peace of mind. I use recycled packaging when available to protect our environment and save on shipping costs. Thanks

It also has a few minor creases in the paper which the framer can smooth out before framing as I've had it done before. There is a small piece of tape on the back, which I have no idea how it got there, but doesn't affect this beautiful piece at all. less
