This Vintage Turkish Kilim, measuring 2'10" by 4'4", is handwoven with wool on a wool foundation in Turkey’s Oushak region. Unlike pile rugs, kilims and flat weaves are created by tightly interlacing warp and weft threads to form a smooth, pile-free surface. Typically woven on horizontal looms, this method yields sharp geometric patterns. Lighter and softer than traditional pile rugs, kilims have historically served versatile roles—as sofa covers, drapes, pillows, tablecloths, wall hangings, and insulation against harsh cold.
