Jean Lambert Rucki ( Poland, 1888-1967) Plaster sculpture. Rucki became French and exhibited extensively in the French modern art and Cubist circles. Influenced by African tribal arts, his presence is among the most influential leaders in Art Deco and later the Modern arts. Plaster work signed and dated 1937 by Rucki to the back of the piece in black paint. A recognizable Rucki character with mask imagery, which has been seen before in other compositions. Charming and forward for the time period of the 30s'
The front side is polychrome in multi-colors. Acquired in a Paris Gallery in the 1970s. Good condition. The size of the panel is 24" tall by 10.75" wide and 4" deep.
