This vintage Turkish Kilim, measuring 6'5" by 10', is handwoven with wool on a wool foundation in Turkey’s Oushak region. Kilims and flat weaves are distinguished by their pile-less construction, created by tightly interlacing warp and weft threads to form a smooth, flat surface. Typically crafted on horizontal looms, this technique results in sharp geometric patterns. Lighter and softer than traditional pile rugs, kilims have been used as sofa covers, drapes, pillows, tablecloths, wall hangings, and as insulation against harsh cold.
