This vintage Turkish Kilim, measuring 7'1" by 8'11", is handwoven with wool on a wool foundation in the Oushak region of Turkey. Kilims and flat weaves are distinguished by their lack of pile, created through the tight interlacing of warp and weft threads to form a smooth, flat surface. Typically crafted on horizontal looms, this technique yields sharp geometric patterns. Lighter and softer than traditional pile rugs, kilims have historically served versatile roles as sofa covers, drapes, pillows, tablecloths, wall hangings, and insulation against harsh cold.
