Crafted in France circa 1820, the rectangular mirror features an intricately carved frame embellished with raised garlands of roses, blossoms, foliage, and fruit, beautifully arranged along all four sides. The sculptural decorations are particularly pronounced at the corners, creating a balanced and richly detailed composition.

The broad giltwood frame is further enhanced with subtle engraved foliate motifs, a finely carved rope-twist outer border, and a delicate beaded molding surrounding the mirror plate. These decorative elements reflect the refined neoclassical influence characteristic of the French Restauration period.

The large mirror retains its mercury glass plate, displaying the subtle aging and reflective character associated with antique glass. The reverse features traditional wood parquet backing, adding to its period authenticity. The original gilded finish reveals warm gold tones and a beautifully developed patina, with gentle variations that accentuate the depth of the carving.

Measuring nearly five and a half feet in length, this substantial mirror can be displayed either vertically or horizontally. Its generous proportions make it particularly suitable above a fireplace mantel, a dining room buffet, or a large console, while its ornate floral decoration provides a striking architectural accent.

The antique Restauration mirror is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use and adorns a rich gold leaf finish.
