Crafted in Paris, France, circa 1870, the rectangular occasional table stands on four slender cabriole legs embellished with decorative ormolu foliate mounts at the shoulders and extending down the front edges, terminating in scrolled bronze sabot feet.

The shaped tabletop is fitted with an inset burgundy red leather writing surface, decorated with a gilt-tooled floral medallion at the center and a delicate embossed border around the perimeter. A continuous brass molding follows the gently curved edges of the top, providing a decorative contrast to the warm walnut finish.

The scalloped apron features geometric parquetry and marquetry inlay on all four sides, creating a distinctive pattern of contrasting wood tones. A discreet, full-width drawer is incorporated into the front apron, offering practical storage while maintaining the table's graceful proportions. The drawer interior reveals the rich wood grain and traditional construction details.

The antique table is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, retaining a rich walnut patina complemented by the warm gilt finish of the bronze mounts. The combination of finely executed inlay, decorative ormolu, and gilt-tooled leather reflects the refined Louis XV Revival aesthetic popular during the Napoleon III period.
