A joined oak backstool, late 17th century, English, South Lancashire / North Cheshire. The paneled back carved with a stylized tulip and oak leaves surmounted by an arched top rail with further oak leaf and scroll carving, the uprights capped with pyramid finials. the solid plank seat above baluster turned legs tied by stretcher. Circa 1685
