A poelle being a cooking pan.This small village on the channel sea cultivates a long tradition of hand made copper wares. Although clearly marked with the "Villedieu stamp" this piece has no specific manufacturers identification like many other pieces from the same town. Not so common to come across these larger pieces that are very richly crafted with a variety of details. A true slice of French vernacular traction and craftsmanship. I discovered this piece in a open air "brocante" flea market near the city of Morlaix France. In relatively good condition after a good polish this massive copper vase only desires to oxidize if left unattended. Let time and the elements do its magic all over again or let yourself be blinded by the warm brightness of copper. See less
