Echoing the abstract expressionism of willem de kooning (1904-1997), this highly skilled artist paints with a unique spontaneity and freedom. The frantic, gestural brushstrokes create a dynamic ambience, allowing movement and energy to take over the medium. Drawing on classical imagery, a series of studies of the nude figure are depicted, surrounded by a chaotic, whirlwind-like atmosphere. Vicente vela was a postwar and contemporary artist born in 1930. Known for his dreamlike depictions of distorted figures and abstract compositions, this spanish painter has enjoyed frequent success at auction.
