The front is clearly divided into a low top section and three symmetrical drawers, framed by fluted pilasters, giving the piece a calm, architecturally unified appearance.

features: the top section is set off with two small drawers and pyramid-shaped corner blocks; below, fluted pilasters extend to the base. The drawers are made of oak, while the fronts are covered with mirror-image walnut veneer.

the design follows the historicism of the gründerzeit (late 19th-century) period and combines renaissance elements such as diamond-shaped blocks and pilasters with a flat, framed panel structure on the drawer fronts. A sturdy base with turned feet gives the body a calm, well-grounded proportion, and the marble top provides a clean, defined upper dimension. Function: formerly: storage furniture for linens and textiles in the bedroom or hallway. Today: chest of drawers or sideboard for the living room, dining room, hallway, or bedroom.

dimensions: h 85 × w 121 × d 52 cm. Material and condition: body and fronts veneered in walnut, drawers in oak, top in marble. Well-preserved with age-related wear and visible patina, a few minor chips on the edges. The brass handles on the large drawers are likely later additions; escutcheons are missing. Inspected, cleaned, treated appropriately for the material, structurally checked, stable and functionally safe. See less
