This piece is highly characteristic of the geometric, flat-cut forms popularized by the renowned Murano furnace of Alessandro Mandruzzato and the iconic designs of Flavio Poli for Seguso Vetri d'Arte.
The vase is masterfully executed using the complex Sommerso (submerged) technique, featuring a brilliant teal-aquamarine inner core cleanly encased in a sharp layer of amber-ochre glass. The coloured layers are perfectly centred and suspended within a thick, heavy lead crystal block housing.
Its minimalist, sharp-edged square footprint offers beautiful structural symmetry, casting spectacular optical colour refractions when exposed in natural light. A striking, sculptural accent piece that serves as a defining example of late mid-century Italian studio class artistry.
