Crafted in the ornamental Louis XV Rocaille style, the piece is expertly made from sand-cast white metal (regule) finished with an original thin layer of silver-playing. The design boasts remarkably crisp. deep-relief details including scrolling asymmetrical volutes, acanthus leaves, openwork trellis panelling and blooming rose bouquets.
Both sides feature an elegant, hand-engraved entwined cursive monogram ("M") nested neatly inside a polished cartouche. Two stylized flowing handles anchor the ends, and the entire body stands securely upon four ornate scroll feet.
This substantial, oversized model measures 42.5cm wide, giving it a powerful decorative presence. Unlike smaller variations that utilize thin, loose tin liners, this heavy-cast model features a permanently integrated interior bowl. It displays an authentic, heavily distressed antique patina with significant tarnish, dark grey oxidation where the plating has stripped back to the base white metal. It remains structurally sound and serves beautifully as an authentic, character-rich focal piece for dining tables, sideboards or console displays.
