Hard-fired stoneware water bottle (Wasserflasche), Crinitz, Lusatia, circa 1900.
Tall cylindrical body with a rounded shoulder, short neck and applied loop handle. Brown salt glaze with darker running at the shoulder. Stamped on the body: 11 / G.d.T. / Crinitz.
Crinitz (Brandenburg, Niederlausitz) was a centre of utilitarian stoneware. These bottles were made for water and household use — thick-walled, salt-glazed and built to be carried. The form is the standard handled Kruke of the period.
A small crack at the base. Height 42 cm (16.5 in), diameter 22 cm (8.7 in).
