The disc is built from heavy boards, held by iron straps and nails, and bound with an iron tyre. A boxed hub at the centre takes the axle. The wood is dark and deeply weathered. Gaps open between several of the boards.
This is a Scheibenrad, the solid wheel used on heavy carts, not the spoked wheel of a coach or a light wagon. Wheels of this construction carried freight and farm loads. Few survive at this size.

Hung on a wall it reads as a strong rustic ornament. The same disc will take a glass top as a table, or carry lights from the hub as a ceiling fitting.
