This large brass jardinière is decorated with horizontal bands of Arabic-style calligraphic ornament, goats and foliage. Raised, polished motifs contrast with densely textured, darker grounds, giving the surface depth and a rich interplay of light and shadow.
The vessel has a broad, rounded body and a generous opening. Its substantial scale and intricate decoration give it a strong presence as a planter or standalone object. Irregularities in the metalwork and a varied patina add to the tactile character of its surface. Opening diameter 29cm.
