An incredibly beautiful and rare antique solid wood parcel gilt life size sculpture of an Ibex. This unusual and impressive decorative item appears to be in the Egyptian revival style.
We are unsure of the origins, but would guess this was likely made in the workshops of Florence, Italy and would date it to around the 1900-1920 period.
It is of outstanding quality, and is completely made from solid wood. It is sturdy and heavy, the quality of construction is amazing. It is mostly ebonised wood, with gold finish around the mane, the hooves, ears and horns. The ears and horns can be removed.
The condition is very good, with normal age related patina and wear to the painted finish here and there, seen in the images.
