This is a charming vintage octagonal box, crafted from rosewood (huali wood) with a warm, golden-brown finish.
The lid is beautifully decorated with a central cloisonné enamel flower featuring vibrant blue petals and a gold-toned center. Surrounding the flower are four smooth, dome-shaped cabochon stones in striking colors: red, black, yellow, and purple. The wood displays a natural, straight grain pattern.
The box is designed with a lift-off lid that fits securely over the base. The interior features a partitioned insert with three round recesses and three corresponding pegs on the lid's underside, suggesting it may have been designed to hold a specific item like a seal, inkstone, or small trinkets securely in place. The base is flat and unadorned. This unique piece is perfect for storing small treasures or as a decorative accent on a desk or vanity.
