This is an elegant and serene vintage bust of a Bodhisattva, likely Guanyin (Avalokiteshvara), crafted from bronze with a gilded finish (nijin).
The figure is depicted with a tranquil, downcast expression, closed eyes, and a prominent urna (dot) on the forehead. The hair is styled in elaborate, swept-back waves and curls, topped with a tall, ornate crown. At the center of the crown is a small, detailed figure of a seated Buddha, a classic iconographic feature of Guanyin. The bust shows the draped shoulders and chest, adorned with a detailed beaded necklace.
The piece features a rich, dark patina with areas of the original gold gilding remaining, particularly on the face and hair details, giving it a beautiful, aged appearance. The hollow, unfinished base is typical of traditional cast metal figures. This peaceful and commanding piece is perfect for a home altar, meditation space, or as a sculptural accent in a study.
