This historic charity lottery was organized by high-society philanthropic women in the coastal city of La Rochelle to raise funds for local orphanages and hospitals. Large-scale, hand-painted chargers of this grandeur served as the premium prize lot for these events.
The face features magnificent, detailed botanical sprays (decor a fleurs fines) highlighting a central magenta carnation nestled within blue forget-me-nots, flanked by balanced arrangements of a large cabbage rose and mixed field florals. The reverse retains pristine, hand-inscribed provenance and the distinct "C.B" monogram of the ceramic decorator.
A spectacular, highly-collectible centrepiece for historical French folk-art and earthenware enthusiasts. This piece has an attribution mark,
