Date: Circa 1860 (Academic Period / Knauf Period)
Material: High-quality porcelain, hand-painted, richly decorated with burnished gold
Diameter: Approx. 24 cm

Details & Decoration:
For sale is a museum-quality and extremely rare pierced plate from the world-famous Meissen manufactory. The plate is distinguished by its masterfully hand-pierced basket-weave rim, which features one of the manufactory's most exclusive and elaborate decorations: the famous "Purple Scale" decoration. Each individual scale is hand-painted with the finest purple nuances and accentuated with delicate gold crosses.
The center of the plate features an exquisite, highly detailed Watteau painting (a gallant scene) of the highest artistic quality. It depicts a pastoral couple in love beneath a tree in an idyllic landscape, accompanied by a sheep. The delicacy of the facial features and the drapery of the garments testify to the exceptional skill of the 19th-century Meissen porcelain painters. The inner rim is framed by a magnificent, undamaged gold lace border (gold serrated edge).
Condition:
The plate is in superb, museum-quality condition, perfectly preserved for its age.
• No chips, no hairline cracks, no restorations.
• The extremely delicate pierced rim is completely intact.
• The hand-painted decoration retains its vibrant colors and brilliance.
• The gold rim and decoration show barely any wear and an excellent luster.
An absolute showpiece for discerning collections and an exclusive highlight for connoisseurs of historic Meissen porcelain. This piece has an attribution mark,
