A gorgeous and authentic example of California mid-century modern studio pottery, this rectangular lidded ceramic trinket box features the iconic "Rooftops" design motif by legendary artist Sascha Brastoff. The lid boasts a beautifully hand-painted, stylized architectural village scene in signature tones of dusty pink, beige, and dark green, elevated by gleaming gold leaf luster window and roof highlights. The container's base features a highly textured, mottled forest green sponge-crackle glaze that provides an elegant, earthy contrast to the glossy graphic top.
True to its mid-century studio roots, the lid is signed "Sascha B." in gold paint on the front lower right corner. The interior of the lid features Brastoff's stamped studio gold rooster emblem alongside the hand-stamped mold style number "O 20" (or "0 20"). The base exhibits three standard unglazed kiln stilt marks on the bottom, typical of authentic firing methods from this era. A perfect functional art piece for collectors of Hollywood-era retro pottery and vintage vanity decor. Measures 5" x 3.5" x 1.75".
