A pair of antique Japanese Imari porcelain tea bowls dating to the Meiji period (1868–1912).
The decoration features underglaze cobalt blue, with overglaze iron red, green, and gilt. The exterior is arranged in panelled designs combining circular landscape medallions, floral motifs, geometric patterns, and traditional Japanese ornamental designs. The interior rim is decorated with iron-red scrollwork, cobalt-blue bands, and floral medallions.
The contrasting colors and intricate panelled decoration exemplify the richly ornamented Imari palette.
Excellent antique condition with no chips, cracks or crazing, may have minor wear on enamel. Please see the pictures as they are part of my description.
