Vintage Meissen Openwork Porcelain Plate "Purple Crocus" — 2nd Choice
This exceptionally elegant vintage porcelain cabinet plate features a stunning, masterfully hand-painted "Purple Crocus" (Krokus) motif surrounded by delicate wildflowers, crafted by the prestigious Meissen Porcelain Manufactory in Germany.
The plate is a prime example of high-end craftsmanship, showcasing a spectacular openwork latticework border (Durchbruchsteller) interspersed with four scalloped, relief-molded rococo reserves. Each reserve is meticulously hand-painted with charming secondary floral sprigs, including a rosebud, forget-me-nots, and yellow blossoms. The undulating rim is elegantly highlighted with a rich, polished gold trim.
The reverse features the iconic underglaze blue Meissen crossed swords mark with factory grinding slashes, denoting this piece as 2nd choice quality / 2. Wahl. It bears the impressed model shape number 122 and the artisan's hand-painted iron-red pattern codes on the base.
