This is a beautifully crafted wooden tray featuring intricate mother-of-pearl (nacre) inlay work. Crafted from a richly grained hardwood with a deep, warm reddish-brown patina, the tray is designed with a raised, rectangular gallery edge detailed with pierced, stylized cutouts and accented by evenly spaced brass pins.
The center of the tray is beautifully decorated with a detailed inlay scene depicting two birds perched upon flowering, branching stems. The artisan has utilized various tones of iridescent shell—including bright white, pale yellow, and deep pink for the blossoms—while the birds' wings are highlighted with vibrant, iridescent green and purple shell. To the upper left, a pink circular inlay motif with a trailing cloud design adds a striking focal point.
