This is a beautifully crafted wooden tray featuring intricate mother-of-pearl (nacre) inlay work. Made from a richly grained hardwood with a deep, warm patina, the tray serves as both a functional piece and a stunning decorative object.
The central surface is adorned with a highly detailed inlay scene depicting three birds in flight around a cluster of blooming roses and flowering branches. The artisan has utilized varying tones of iridescent shell—including vibrant greens, pinks, pale yellows, and bright whites—to create a dimensional and lifelike artwork against the dark wood background.
The tray features a raised, rectangular gallery edge accented with evenly spaced dots of white shell inlay. The exterior sides are detailed with deep, carved relief floral and foliate scrollwork, while the lower base features a carved, scrolled apron resting on short, stylized feet. The underside reveals traditional joinery and a central support batten.

The wood displays a rich, dark patina with natural grain variations, minor surface scratches, and light wear along the edges and raised rims. The mother-of-pearl inlay is predominantly intact and highly iridescent, though there are a few tiny, isolated areas where the shell appears slightly uneven or missing upon very close inspection. The carved side panels and the structural integrity of the tray, including the base and joints, are solid. Please review all photos carefully for a detailed view of the condition. less
