A fierce and majestic pair of vintage Chinese guardian lions (commonly known as Foo Dogs), sourced from a private collection. These highly detailed figures are crafted from solid bronze and feature exquisite gold (gilt) accents throughout.
Following traditional iconography, the male lion rests his paw on an embroidered ball (symbolizing dominion over the world and protection of wealth), while the female lion has a playful cub under her paw (symbolizing the nurturing of offspring and the continuity of life). Both feature intricately detailed curly manes, fierce expressions, and ornate collars with dangling beast-mask bells.
The rich, dark bronze patina contrasts beautifully with the bright gilded details on their faces, claws, and accessories. These heavy, substantial statues are perfect for flanking an entryway to ward off negative energy, placed on either side of a fireplace, or as striking focal points in a library or home office.
