The vase is crafted from substantial amber-colored glass and features a tall architectural form with deeply worked geometric decoration along both sides. The combination of thick glass, precisely defined edges and the rich amber coloration creates striking optical effects and a strong sense of depth.
The restrained rectangular silhouette contrasts with the rhythmic sculptural treatment of the sides, characteristic of the bold and experimental approach found in Czechoslovak art glass of the 1960s.
Designed by Oldřich Lipský for Exbor, circa 1967, the vase is a distinctive example of post-war Czechoslovak glass design and an attractive collector’s piece for interiors focused on Czech art glass, Mid-Century Modern design and European decorative arts.
