A magnificent and highly collectible example of geometric vienna secession design, this rare model no. 235 side chair was designed by the legendary austrian architect otto wagner for the prestigious firm jacob & josef kohn around 1905. Shifting away from the organic curves of early art nouveau, this model beautifully captures the avant-garde spirit of the wiener werkstätte, focusing on balanced geometry, rational structure, and clean forms. The chair is masterfully crafted from dark-stained bentwood beech, featuring a striking architectural backrest defined by a vertical slat design integrated with a distinctive square cutout grid motif. The flared front legs and elegant support rings showcase the high-technical mastery of bentwood manufacturing that j. & j. Kohn pioneered. Fitted with a newly woven, pristine viennese cane seat, this historical piece balances structural rigor with lightweight elegance. An exceptional find for connoisseurs of early modernist design, museum-grade furniture collectors, or as a sophisticated standalone statement piece. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
