An antique, handcrafted copper ewer (ibrik / aftaba), most likely originating from the Ottoman cultural sphere—presumably Anatolia or the Balkans—19th century.
The vessel has a characteristic pear-shaped form, a slender neck, a long, elegantly curved spout, and a large, S-shaped handle. The ensemble is complemented by a hinged, conical lid with a decorative handle. The surface retains the natural, dark patina of aged copper and visible traces of handcrafted work.
Ewers of this type were traditionally used for pouring water, including for hand washing and ritual ablutions, often in combination with a basin.
Date: circa 1870–1900
Origin: most likely the Ottoman Empire / Anatolia or the Balkans
Material: copper, brass
Condition: preserved in a vintage/antique state, with a natural patina and signs of use; visible local traces of repairs and soldering.
An object with a highly decorative, sculptural form, interesting both as an interior design element and as a collector’s item.
