Its highlight is the tabletop. Approximately 5 cm thick, its planks are wide, and the oak grain is beautifully defined. Most notably, the edges have never been laid straight. They still follow the shape of the planks, with their undulations and reliefs, giving the table an almost brutalist feel. It works very well in a contemporary interior. A few old pieces of wood added to the tabletop remind us that it was actually used.

The construction is traditional: planks joined for the tabletop, apron and legs assembled with mortise and tenon joints, all pegged together. The square legs with chamfered edges are connected by an H-shaped stretcher with a molded crossbar, and the base remains perfectly stable. The two drawers are deep. We fitted them with new shell handles.

The tabletop has been fully restored in our workshop. We reworked it until we achieved a smooth surface, pleasant to the touch and easy to care for every day, then finished it with wax. The base has retained its original patina.

At 270 cm long, it comfortably seats 10 people and 12 if you squeeze in a little. At each end, the tabletop extends 30 cm beyond the base's crossbars, allowing you to sit at the ends of the table without bumping your knees. with 60 cm of clearance under the apron, you'll need chairs with a standard seat height of around 45 cm.
