Original Topo desk lamp designed by Joe Colombo for Stilnovo in 1970.
One of the most distinctive examples of Italian industrial lighting from the period, Topo draws inspiration from the headlights and aerodynamic detailing of 1960s sports cars.
The lamp features a rounded directional metal shade supported by a long articulated arm, with exposed mechanical joints and a substantial black circular base.
This vintage example retains its original manufacturer label and
much of its original structure.
The white painted surfaces show extensive chips, scratches and signs of age. The joint connecting the arm to the base has been reinforced with bolts, modifying the original fastening arrangement. The pivot pin may also have been replaced. The plug and lampholder have been replaced.
A visibly aged and repaired example retaining the characteristic form of Colombo's celebrated design.
