Traditional Chinese water bucket (水桶, shuitong) dating from the late Qing dynasty, 19th century.
Constructed from wooden staves joined in a slightly flared shape at the top, held together by two horizontal blackened wrought iron hoops. The rigid handle, typical of antique Chinese buckets, is formed from a curved piece of wood topped with a wide, flat, pointed head, reinforced by hinged wrought iron fittings that allow it to rotate. The wood, probably pine or elm, has a beautiful honey-mahogany patina with visible grain.
Dimensions: Height 65 cm, Diameter 35 cm. Weight: 6 kg.
