A large napoleon iii style trumeau mirror, dating from the second half of the 19th century. The monumental rectangular frame, in carved and stuccoed wood, is enhanced with selective gilding on a warm brown ground. The openwork pediment is adorned with a large central shell flanked by acanthus scrolls and foliage, typical of the decorative repertoire of the second empire. The beveled oval mirror, set in a granular-textured panel, is surrounded by an oval molding decorated with gilt medallions alternating with foliate motifs. The outer frame is punctuated by a series of gilt balls and interlaced moldings, while carved floral cartouches enliven the corners of the central panel. The reverse features a traditional construction of fir planks joined with handwritten numbers, attesting to authentic 19th-century craftsmanship. Slight wear to the gilding is consistent with the age of the piece; overall, it is in good condition.
