Lorenzo Burchiellaro Copper Patchwork Coffee Table, Italy, 1960s A striking square coffee table by Italian designer and sculptor Lorenzo Burchiellaro, made in Italy during the 1960s. Combining a richly textured copper surface with stained beech legs, the table brings together sculptural expression, geometric composition and the warmth of natural materials. The tabletop features an arrangement of individually cut metal sections, forming a distinctive patchwork of rectangular and triangular shapes. Lines of small circular impressions trace the divisions between the sections, adding rhythm and definition to the composition. These visible details give the surface a strong handcrafted character and invite closer inspection. The copper displays a beautiful range of tones, from warm rose and reddish brown to golden hues and darker areas of oxidation. Variations in colour, surface texture and reflectivity create depth across the tabletop, with its appearance changing subtly as the light moves through the room. The patina is an integral part of the table’s visual appeal, lending richness to its precise geometric design. Four cylindrical stained beech legs support the substantial square top. Their restrained form provides a balanced contrast to the expressive metal surface, while the warm wood complements the colours of the copper. Measuring 100 centimetres square, the table offers a generous surface and a strong presence within a seating arrangement. Burchiellaro’s sculptural approach is evident throughout the design. The table functions as a practical piece of furniture while also offering the visual interest of an abstract composition. It would sit beautifully alongside patinated leather, textured upholstery or other carefully selected twentieth-century furnishings. The table bears the “burchiellaro” stamp. Condition: Patinated vintage condition, with visible scratches, surface marks and oxidation. Please examine the photographs for a detailed impression of the finish and wear.
