This monumental Stations of the Cross is a major work by the sculptor and ceramicist (of the Wiener Werkstätte) Hugo F. Kirsch (1873–1961).
The Stations of the Cross were designed in 1931 for the Christ the King Church in Klagenfurt, where they can still be seen today.
The version offered here was created in 1952 (with some minor variations in expression and glaze compared to the reliefs in the Christ the King Church) and comes from the artist's estate—it was never mounted.
This is a complete Stations of the Cross, consisting of 14 large ceramic reliefs in excellent condition.
Some of the plaques are signed.
Inscribed and dated on the reverse.
Dimensions: 70 x 50 x 7 cm each; approx. 20 kg each.
