A pair of elettra armchairs, designed in 1954 by the italian architectural group bbpr (banfi, belgiojoso, peressutti, and rogers) for arflex.
the armchairs are characterized by their delicate black metal frames with angled legs, upholstered seats, and gently curved backrests. Their lightweight construction and clean, functional lines are typical of italian furniture design from the 1950s.
both armchairs have been completely reupholstered in "caledonian pine green" fabric from kirkby design's underground vol. Iii collection. This textile collection is inspired by the distinctive patterned upholstery of the london underground and combines a piece of british transportation history with italian furniture design.
the dark green plaid fabric provides a beautiful contrast to the black metal frames and emphasizes the original character of the armchairs.
a special pairing that combines italian design of the 1950s with a contemporary interpretation of historic british textiles. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
designer records,
or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising
from
misattribution
