A 19th Century Enamel on Copper Patch Box, Trinket Box.. The top has an 18th Century scene with two ladies being entertained by a gentleman playing the lute. A wonderful Bucolic scene. The base is a pale green, the interior is white. The hinged box closes good and tight.
This type of box is most often identified as an Eighteenth Century Battersea of Bilston Enamel Box. However, I can tell form the hinge that this is 19th Century French, most probably made by Samson.
Measures approximately, 2” x 1 ¼” x 1”. Pictured next to a quarter coin for scale. Very good condition.
