A beautifully decorative vintage Chinese export-style porcelain pedestal dish, richly ornamented with the colorful floral, butterfly and geometric motifs associated with Rose Medallion and Famille Rose wares.

The shaped quatrefoil body is elevated on a low pedestal foot, giving the piece a particularly elegant profile. Its central reserve is filled with lush pink roses, foliage, butterflies and additional botanical motifs, surrounded by intricate turquoise, pink, blue, green and red borders. A fine gilt edge finishes the scalloped rim.

The underside is also decorated with hand-painted floral sprays rather than being left completely plain—a lovely detail that speaks to the highly ornamental character of the piece. The base is marked “Decorated Hong Kong” and retains an old Italian retailer label from G. Calligaris, Treviso.

A striking piece for a collected interior, equally beautiful displayed on a console, coffee table or dining table, or layered into a cabinet of Asian porcelain and antique ceramics. See less
