Remarkable Chinese blue and white porcelain jar topped with a ruffled lotus-leaf shaped lid crowned by a sculpted finial.
The cream toned body is hand painted with the classic historical scene of a sage riding in a tiger-drawn cart, framed by pine trees, rocks and scrolling floral vines. This famous narrative motif is rich with ancient Chinese folklore meaning wisdom and strategy.
The base is decorated with stylized ruyi and geometric panel borders, while the lid features matching blue scrolling foliage. This eye-catching lidded jar serves as a stunning focal decor piece for entryway consoles, large mantels, sideboards and curated Chinoiserie interiors.
